Before Your Spray Tan

Whats the difference between Classic, Express and TANsparent Clear Tan?

All options will give you a flawless, long lasting tan, but the best choice depends on your preference and schedule:
Classic Tan – Develops over 8 hours and contains a bronzer (guide colour), giving you an instant glow. After rinsing, the bronzer washes away, revealing your fully developed tan. Ideal if you like seeing colour straight away.

Express Tan – A fast developing option, perfect for those short on time. You can rinse off sooner, depending on your desired depth:
• Light glow – rinse after 1–2 hours
• Medium tan – rinse after 2–3 hours
• Deep bronze – rinse after 3–4+ hours
This option is great if you don’t want to sleep in your tan overnight.

TANSparent - The Clear Tan – Available in Light and Dark shades:
• Light Clear Tan – Develops over 8 hours with no bronzer, meaning it applies invisibly and won’t transfer onto clothes or bedsheets. A favourite with brides and those who like to sleep in their tan.
• Dark Clear Tan – Can be used as a standard 8 hour tan or as an Express tan (rinse after 3 hours for a medium tan). Like the Light Clear Tan, it applies invisibly, so no bronzer transfer!

How should I prepare for my spray tan?

To get the best results from your spray tan:
-
Exfoliate 24 hours before your appointment to remove dead skin.
-
Shave or wax at least 24 hours before (not on the same day) to avoid irritation.
-
Avoid moisturisers, deodorants, perfumes, and makeup on the day of your tan, as they can affect how the tan develops.
-
Stop using retinol or strong exfoliating skincare (such as AHAs, BHAs, and retinoids) at least 48 hours before your tan, as these products can cause uneven fading.
-
If you use HRT gel, apply it at least 3-4 hours before your appointment to allow it to fully absorb. This will help with uneven development. Your tan will develop beautifully but it may fade slightly faster in areas where the gel is applied (like inner thighs or arms) This is completely normal!

What should I wear to my appointment?

Wear loose, dark clothing and flip-flops to prevent rubbing or transfer of the bronzer. Avoid tight bras, leggings, socks, or anything that may cause lines or streaks straight after your tan.

Can I wear makeup or deodorant before my tan?

No, these products can create a barrier and lead to uneven tanning. It’s best to come with clean, dry skin.

Should I get my nails, lashes, or waxing done before or after my tan?

-
Waxing, manicures, pedicures, and lash extensions should be done at least 24 hours before your spray tan.
-
Getting them done afterwards may remove or affect your tan

During Your Spray Tan

What should I wear during my spray tan?
Most clients go topless to avoid tan lines, but you can wear as much or as little as you feel comfortable with. If you prefer, you can wear a strapless bra, underwear, or a disposable thong—which I provide if needed.

Will my tan stain my clothes?

-
Classic and Express solutions contain a bronzer that may transfer onto clothing or bedding, but it usually washes out.
-
The Clear (Transparent) solution is completely colourless, so there is no transfer—perfect if you need to go about your day straight after your tan!
-
For best results, I still recommend wearing loose, dark clothing and flip-flops after your tan to prevent any rubbing or marks

How long does a spray tan take to develop?

This depends on the type of tan you choose:
-
Classic tan/Tansparent: Develops over 8–12 hours.
-
Express tan: Can be rinsed off in 1–4 hours, depending on how deep you want the colour.

After Your Spray Tan

When can I shower after my tan?

-
Classic tan: Wait 8–12 hours before your first rinse.
-
Express tan: Rinse off in 1–4 hours, depending on your chosen shade.
-
For your first rinse, use lukewarm water only—no soap. The tan will continue to develop over the next 24 hours, so your final colour will be at its best the following day.

Can I work out or sweat after my tan?

No, avoid sweating, swimming, or any moisture (including rain) until after your first rinse, as this can cause streaking.

How long will my spray tan last?

Your spray tan will typically last 5–7 days, but with the right care, you can extend your glow for up to 10 days.

What affects how long your tan lasts?

-
Skin type: Drier skin may cause a tan to fade faster, while well-hydrated skin holds colour longer.
-
Aftercare: Keeping skin moisturised and avoiding harsh exfoliation will help maintain your tan.
-
Lifestyle: Frequent swimming, sweating, or hot baths can cause the tan to fade more quickly.

How to make your tan last longer:

-
Moisturise daily with an oil-free lotion to keep skin hydrated.
-
Pat skin dry after showers instead of rubbing.
-
Avoid exfoliating and harsh soaps until your tan naturally fades.
-
Limit exposure to chlorine and saltwater, as they can speed up fading.
-
Avoid exfoliating and skincare products containing retinol or AHAs/BHAs, as they can cause the tan to fade faster.
-
If you use HRT gel, wait until after your first rinse before reapplying to help maintain an even tan. Apply gently, and avoid excessive rubbing to prevent patchiness.
-
Use a gradual tanning lotion or tan-extending product to prolong your glo

I do stock a range of washes, gradual tanners, and tan extending products to help keep your skin bronzed and glowing for longer!

Will my spray tan protect me from sunburn?

No, spray tans do not contain SPF. Always apply sunscreen when outdoors.
